Dan Smith, a Marine Veteran and businessman, bought Barton’s stake in the company. Barton had been a big part of the Relyant team for years, but he is glad to know that the company is in good hands with Smith at the helm.
“I am truly humbled to have been a Relyant team member for the past 4 years and an owner for over 3 years,” Barton said in a statement. “I thank Steve Barton, Dan Smith, Ken Biles, and Don Patton, the newest Relyant Executive, from the deepest part of my heart and soul for allowing me such an incredible opportunity.”
“I will continue to work alongside Dan, Ken, and Don in their efforts to continually build and maintain one of the best small businesses in the industry. This was a bittersweet business decision made on behalf of my family and myself, and I want to assure all of my friends and colleagues at Relyant that my decision will in no way affect my dedication and support for the company.”
Barton had expressed interest last summer in being able to go out on his own and grow his other business Vanquish Worldwide, and spend some much needed time with his wife of 15 years, Mechelle Barton, and their 5 wonderful children. Barton has spent a lot of time away from his family building Relyant. He looks forward to 2011 and beyond as his two oldest are preparing to enter their senior year of high school.
Relyant’s President and owner Dan Smith said in a statement that “the sale of Barton’s share of the company is a business decision which will not change our relationship. Our friendship goes well beyond business.”
